Dissecting the Dysregulation of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition at Breast Cancer Metastasis

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women in the United States and worldwide1. The clinical symptoms and outcomes of breast cancer depend largely on whether it is confined to the breast or has metastasized to adjacent or distant parts of the body. Unfortunately, the acquisition of metastases leads to clinically incurable disease and accounts for approximately 90% of cancer deaths. Thus, knowledge of the biology of breast cancer metastasis is critically needed to develop novel strategies and improve existing therapies for combating this deadly disease.
