Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Numerous high school students served by Eastside Technical Center currently lack
opportunities to study animal sciences. However, there exists both strong need and interest for
secondary Veterinary Science studies encompassing both equine and small animal science. The
project's primary long-range goal is to implement a Veterinary Science Program for high school
students in the agriscience program at Eastside Technical Center, serving Fayette County and
students from surrounding counties of Woodford, Jessamine, and Scott.
Working with the University of Kentucky, Eastside will benefit from assistance in curriculum
development and problem-based teaching methods, research regarding student success and
stakeholder perceptions, and the development of an electronic research journal. UK will
benefit from increased student enrollment in the College of Agriculture with student recruits
more prepared for a rigorous curriculum.
