Description

The work scope involves the measurement of neutron scattering cross sections from enriched 56Fe and natural 28Si. Secondary measurements will be performed on 12C. Development work will occur on 2H and 7Li. Angular distributions of the elastically and inelastically scattered neutrons will be measured for 5 to 10 incident neutron energies per year. Gamma-ray production cross sections arising from inelastic neutron scattering will also be measured. The work of the first year concentrates on 56Fe, with a transition to 28Si measurements the second year.
