Electronic License Plate and Screening System, Research Study-Federal No. 25

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The scope of the work will follow the general approach, in many ways, that the transponder system currently in place follows. Passive RPm readers will be installed at a single scale facility adjacent to the by-pass lane. Since a single reader may have up to four antennas attached to it, these antennae will be angled in various ways to optimize the reading surface ofthe vehicle's bumper. An additional possibility will include a second reader that would angle towards the back of a vehicle to attempt to read the plate of smaller vehicles that have rear mounted plates and no front mounted plates.
