Ending the HIV Epidemic-Primary Care HIV Prevention Supplemental Funding

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The University of Kentucky, North Fork Valley Community Health Center will expand HIV prevention services that decrease the risk of HIV transmission in our service area. In keeping with the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America, we will focus on the diagnoses of people with HIV as early as possible, treat those people with HIV rapidly and effectively, prevent new HIV transmissions using proven interventions, and respond quickly to potential HIV outbreaks. The University of Kentucky Research Foundation currently receives RWHAP funding. The staffing plan proposed will lead to an increase in patients receiving PrEP though more enhanced practices in identifying high risk patients and providing proper screening. The patient estimates have been based on an analysis of male health center patients who reported as having sex with other males, patients who have admitted to using IV drugs, and because our area has a high incidence of IV drug use there is a large portion of the population at risk for HIV.
