Description
The project development team, composed of faculty and staff from the Colleges of Agriculture, Food and Environment and Education, and CAER, propose an elementary science education project for seven elementary schools in Fayette County Public Schools. The objectives of the project are to
(1) Build critical understanding of regional, national, and global energy socio-scientific issues related to energy in elementary teachers and their students.
(2) Enhance the energy literacy of the participating elementary teachers and their students.
(3) Utilize energy concepts as a unifying theme across the curriculum and across grades
(4) Deepen understanding of energy concepts and support development of students' critical thinking skills through the Use the Claims-Evidence-Reasoning framework.
(5) Increase awareness of STEM career pathways (particularly those related to energy production) and increase the interest of students in pursuing those pathways.
