Grants and Contracts Details
Description
This project (ENGAGE) will research, develop, and demonstrate end-to-end aggregation and control architectures to enable behind-the-meter (BTM) solar PV co-located with other distributed energy resources (DERs) to provide grid services in both distribution and bulk power systems (BPS), while enhancing system reliability and economic efficiency.
Our concept necessitates managing such BTM DER technologies holistically through local and hierarchical controls while co-optimizing end-user and system-wide benefits.
Currently, technical, economic, and regulatory barriers exist that prevent BTM DERs from providing grid services.
ENGAGE’s innovative approach builds on a decade of research to combine BTM DER control strategies in a manner that can meet the needs of a flexible and resilient power system.
