Description

Abstract Emerging vector-borne diseases are a serious threat to public health. Without ongoing continued surveillance, the Commonwealth will not be able to detect or respond to this emerging infectious disease threat. The University of Kentucky Entomology Department shall be the primary source for virology testing and speciation of tick samples collected in Kentucky. Tick samples shall be tested for a panel of vector-bone diseases as indicated by the sampling conditions. The panel of tests shall include, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme Disease, and Ehrlichiosis. The panel of tests may change as new data emerge or as funding changes.
