Evaluation of deck demolition and monitoring of stainless steel reinforcement installation FRT 189

Observe demolition and collect field samples of delaminated concrete bridge deck replacement areas and compare to previously collected ground penetrating radar data. This task will help set thresholds for determining bridge deck deterioration when using ground penetrating radar. 2) Track material specification, source, amount. bar sizes, special tie wire/chairs. 3) Impacts on the use of stainless steel reinforcement in bar fabrication and pllicement (including joining with conventional steel). 4) Compare cost ofstainless steel reinforcement relative to conventional epoxy coated rebars. 5) IdentifY any issues that arise relative to the use ofstainless steel reinforcement. 6) Track the placement of deck concrete and typical cover depth. Method of identifYing rebar locations/depth. . 7) Obtain/retain lot samples of stainless steel for future corrosion testing (not to be perfol111ed in this study). 8) Conduct baseline chloride testing ofnewly placed concrete deck.
