Description

Project Description Title: Exploring and Planning Dissemination of the Quality Implementation of Lung Cancer Screening (QUILS) ™ System from the Kentucky LEADS Collaborative Request Start Date 12/1/22 Request End Date 11/30/23 Executive Summary: Through the work of the Prevention and Early Detection Component of the Kentucky LEADS Collaborative, the team developed the Quality Implementation of Lung Cancer Screening System 1.0 (QUILS)™, including the QUILS Index, a rigorous and quantitative approach to evaluating delivery of lung cancer screening. To improve the quality of lung cancer screening programs across the country and to facilitate translation of lung cancer screening across diverse community settings, we continue to enhance and expand a system and structure to measure, monitor and facilitate quality implementation of lung cancer screening. This planning grant will allow the team to apply what was learned from implementing QUILS™ 1.0 and refine it as part of QUILS™2.0. Additionally, this planning grant will provide resources to engage with state- based opportunities to enhance equitable lung cancer screening. The second component of the planning grant will evaluate and identify two states from a list of candidates who would be well- positioned and best suited to participate in a state-based initiative to support broad implementation of equitable and high-quality lung cancer screening. The planning grant proposal includes two concurrent aims: (1) evaluation, revision, and updates of QUILS™ 1.0 into QUILS™ 2.0, including website changes, communication structures, establishing a learning community platform, and updating training materials, and (2) exploring partnering states for a two-state implementation program to support equitable and high- quality implementation of lung cancer screening, including QUILS™ 2.0. This would include community outreach, connecting with state teams, an evaluation of infrastructure and feasibility to implement QUILS™ in the states, gathering expert feedback, and site team development.
