Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The Kentucky Archaeological Survey proposes to conduct continuing archaeological investigations at Riverside, The Farnsley-Moreman Landing, as part of the Building Blocks of History educational program. Work will continue in the Outbuilding Yard Area on a block excavation, using 1 x 1 m units excavated in stratigraphic layers to investigate an artifact sheet midden associated with late nineteenth to early twentieth century outbuildings. All soil will be sifted through 1/4 inch hardware mesh and will be washed and catalogued. This work will be conducted during the Building Blocks of History Education Program, which consists of participatory school fieldtrips, public events, and lectures. It is anticipated that fieldwork at the Outbuilding Yard will be completed during this project.
