Description
1a. Goal of the training program
The mission of the University of Kentucky (UK) Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program is to
produce physicians that 1) are clinically competent in the field of rheumatology, 2) are capable
of working in a variety of settings, and 3) possess habits of life-long learning to build upon their
knowledge, skills and professionalism. Trainees who successfully complete this program will be
fully equipped to function as clinical rheumatologists, clinician educators, or clinician scientists,
depending on the individual's career goals. The two-year fellowship is the only ACGME-
accredited rheumatology training program in Kentucky. If fellows wish to pursue an advanced
degree, e.g., MPH, or basic science training, they will be appointed as an Instructor.
