Description

This is a research collaborative effort between the University of Kentucky’s Institute of Research for Technology Development (UK-IR4TD) and the USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) Fire Sciences Laboratory. This initial work plan entails a meeting in July, 2012 to discuss potential collaborative research at the sponsor’s Fire Research Laboratory (FRL) located in Missoula, Montana. A successful outcome of this meeting will result in collaborative research activities under this project, with the sponsor’s agreement. UK-IR4TD team comprising of Dr. Kozo Saito (PI), Dr. Nelson Akafuah (Co-PI), and Ms. Brittany Adam (Graduate Student) involvement include the following: 1. Formulate and create a research plan of work to study fire whirls and convective heat transfer in wildland fires during the July meeting with the sponsor (RMRS Fire Science Laboratory) at the sponsor facility located in Missoula, MT 2. Discuss future research collaboration 3. Submit a report to the sponsor following the July meeting
