Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Patients with functional single ventricle (FSV) congenital heart disease comprise a
complex and heterogeneous population that is usually palliated with the Fontan
procedure. There is significant mortality and morbidity as these patients enter adulthood
that accelerates as these patients age. Many patients die. Cardiac transplantation is an
option for some patients, but many are not suitable candidates or die before an organ
becomes available. While some risk factors to predict these adverse outcomes have
been identified, a comprehensive risk stratification model has not been developed. The
goal of this study is to understand how CMR parameters are associated with clinical
outcomes in this vulnerable population.
