The Kentucky Division of Forestry (Cabinet) has petitioned the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, to obtain funding in which to provide educational outreach on forest and wood product certification to state and private foresters, non-industrial private forest landowners and the forest industry within Kentucky in an effort to promote sustainable forestry. This assistance is provided as a competitive project under the 2012 Consolidated Payment Grant funded equally by the Forest Stewardship and Forest Health Programs as authorized by the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978, and first enacted by the 1990 Food, Agriculture, Conservation and Trade Act. The University of Kentucky Research Foundation (UKRF), on behalf of the University of Kentucky, Department of Forestry and the "Center for Forest and Wood Certification" (CFWC) is hereby funded in providing the educational outreach with the deliverables as follows: " A minimum of three certification workshops for state agency foresters, industrial foresters and NRCS " One certification workshop for Kentucky woodland owners and Kentucky forest industry " Three education documents or materials that CFWC produces cooperatively with Cooperative Extension Service and/or Southern Regional Extension " A minimum of two certification webinars hosted by CFWC and Kentucky Division of Forestry " A county level assessment map of certified forest land and certified mills and their timber sheds
