Description

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) proposes a new method of pile repair that involves jacketing pier piles using cylindrical bands of carbon fiber reinforced polymer laminates (CB-CFRP) and filling the gap between the pile/pier and laminate with grout or resin. The pilot project will be carried out on deteriorated timber piles of a bridge (073B00058) on KY 339 in McCracken County, KY. The objective of this project is to carry out the design, carbon fiber material specifications and orders, installation supervision of CB-CFRP, and perform monitoring at all stages retrofit, and carryout the reporting on the project.
