Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This project seeks to make the tools of modem molecular genetics available for the study of the horse. We will determine the locations of protein-encoding genes along the equine chromosomes and derive the coding DNA sequence for equine genes responsible for the structure and function of the proteins. A particular strength of this proposal is the long-term collaborative relationship among the investigators. Investment in these genomic resources will enable current and future studies to determi~e the nature of genetic disease and the response of equine tissues to normal and diseases responses feasible.
