    Description

    The purpose of this contract is the continued development and implementation of Kentucky Public Health leadership Institute (KPHLI). A new model of delivery began in April 2007 and continues to be delivered to current and new cohorts of scholars. The curriculum for the Institute has been developed and refined over the past eight years and shall be used to guide the program delivery. Some modifications to the curriculum shall be made this year to meet the leadership preparedness competencies in addiiion to the national leadership competencies developed by and for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Most importantly, the curriculum shall be available to all scholars, fellow, coaches, mentors, and sponsors. Select curriculum delivered via videoconference will be available to all public health practitioners in Kentucky. A group of faculty and practitioners mentors shall be identified to shepherd the participants through the program. Leadership fellows from the first nine years will also provide assistance to the teams. The learning objectives shall be met though electronic distance learning modules, six in-person training days, mentor relationships, and team learns projects. Materials for the program shall be specific to each learner but could include tests and numerous articles and case studies in addition to the on-line modules and video conferences. All course materiaUs meant to help the teams work on their Change Master project, which may culminate in a pilot test of the program in their district, county, or depaltment. This collaborative project between the Department for Public Health, Kentucky Public Health Leadership Institute, and the UK College of Medicine establishes a Public Health Residency Program during FY 2012.
