Description
The Kentucky Cancer Program proposes implementation of Pink Ribbon Day
Mammography Awareness events targeting medically underserved women who are low
income, are uninsured or receive Medicaid, and are non-compliant with mammography
screening. These women will be recruited from Northern Kentucky counties (Boone,
Kenton, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Owen and Bracken), which have the lowest Medicaid
mammography screening rates in Kentucky (Kentucky Women’s Breast Cancer Screening
Program 2014-2016). The goal is to increase breast cancer screening by creating
community clinical linkages between organizations who work directly with the target
population and mammography screening services. These events will combine breast cancer
education and awareness using tailored materials created by the FDA Office of Women’s
Health with referral and access to mammography screening using a mobile mammogram
van or clinic services.
