Description
The Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services (KY OMS) State Medicaid Health Information Technology Plan (SMHP), required for implementation of the COmmonwealth's Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program and approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Cervices (CMS) in December, 2010, included a strategy for provision of services to Physician Specialists and Subspecialits eligible for participation in the Kentucky Medical Incentive Payment Program but excluded from federally-subsidized Regional Extension Center (REC) support services. The Kentucky REC (KY REC), housed at the University of Kentucky, is one of sixty regional extension centers that received funding from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the US Department of Health and Human Services. Under this memorandum of agreement, the KY REC will be responsible for support services for a limited number of this segment of health care providers, which may include supporting adoption, implementation or upgrading of electronic health records, and assisting with registration and successful attestation for payments under the Kentucky Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.
