Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The University of Kentucky Project Team will develop an online professional learning module entitled, Inquiry in the Social Studies Disciplines (ISSD).
This module will explore what inquiry looks like across the social studies disciplines (i.e. Geography, Economics, History, Civics) and how teachers can infuse inquiry-based instruction throughout their courses, a process we refer to as “looping inquiry.”
After an introduction to the notion of looping inquiry, each individual module will focus in on a discipline and will be led by current Kentucky social studies teachers.
This module will be available through Digital Driver’s License (DDL), which is hosted on the Open Tools for Instructional Support (OTIS) platform, to facilitate online professional learning that districts can monitor
and/or use in conjunction with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) work to enable teachers to create standards-aligned instruction.
