SECTION 2-SCOPE OF WORK 2.00-Services Required The University of Kentucky (UK) shall provide the following services as outlined for the Pediatric Well Child Program and the Reach Out and Read (ROR) program. UK shall provide these services to CHFS’s satisfaction: I. Pediatrics 1. Provide continuing well child/pediatric assessment education annually. The spring conference shall consist of an all-day didactic training and provide continuing education units for the nurses. A webcast of this training shall be included. Didactic training are seminars/lectures from an instructor that builds upon skills or knowledge the recipient may have, will need, and will use in practice. This training shall address nursing theory in relationship to well child assessments, school nursing and promote nursing assessment skills and critical thinking. 2. Provide an agenda prior to the training and registration list to the Well Child Coordinator immediately after the educational class. II. REACH OUT AND READ 1. Under the direction of a UK Medical Director, ensure program coordination/administration as required by the National Reach Out and Read National Center, and shall recruit new ROR clinical program sites and coordinate or provide technical assistance for training to ROR clinical site personnel. 2. Provide new and existing sites with ongoing technical assistance in training, progress reporting, book distribution, community awareness, startup costs, evaluation and local and statewide partnerships for all sites in the Commonwealth. 3. Maintain an evaluation system to include quarterly reports, progress reports and up to date database of KY ROR sites. Assist sites with National required biennial reporting. 4. Establish and cultivate an early literacy coalition to assure ongoing/support/sustainability for ROR Program sites. 5. Conduct group meetings and individual appointments with health care practitioners and clinics to discuss implementing ROR in clinics. 6. Increase annually the number of children served, the number of Well-Child checks, and the number of books distributed.
