FY21 Increasing Mammogram Services

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The Kentucky Cancer Program proposes a two-year intervention to increase mammography screening rates among Medicaid women living in rural counties with low screening rates. Two Eastern Kentucky counties (Fleming, Perry) will be targeted in year one. Key informant interviews will be held with Medicaid women and organizations who serve that population in the targeted counties to better understand mammography screening barriers and non-compliance with recommended screening guidelines. A partnership will be established with Managed Care Organizations (MCO’s) and community health care providers to build capacity for reaching under screened Medicaid women through motivational interviewing and tailored small media outreach. KCP will also coordinate and facilitate community clinical linkages in these two counties between the MCO’s and Federally Qualified Health Centers/community health care providers to link women to breast cancer screening. This initial pilot will be expanded in year two to include additional counties. Evaluation be conducted in partnership with the Kentucky Women’s Cancer Screening Program.
