Description
Abstract
Proposed projects address nutrition education and obesity prevention needs of low- income
target populations through direct education, indirect intervention channels, and advocacy for
policy, systems and environment (PSE) changes to improve nutrition and physical activity
practices. The proposed projects will serve the target audience in all 120 Kentucky counties. The
University of Kentucky’s Nutrition Education Program will continue to apply the social ecological
framework for nutrition and physical activity decisions to address nutrition and physical activity
at all levels of the model – individual, environmental, sectors of influence, and social and cultural
norms and values. Consistent evaluation will provide data for curricula improvement, staff
training, and field implementation of the proposed projects. The 2024 plan includes three
proposed projects from the University of Kentucky.
