READY4Life Evaluation
Project Abstract
Gateway Community Services Organization (GCSO) received a federal grant from the
Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to implement the READY4Life Initiative, which
is an education program for high school youth (grades 9-12). The program is designed to enhance
the values of marriage, develop relationship skills, and increase budgeting/financial management
with the goal of promoting socioemotional development and successful transitions to young
adulthood. As part of this five-year grant, applicants were allowed to budget funds in Year 1 to
work with an outside evaluator to plan an evaluation of the READY4Life Initiative. GCSO will
have the opportunity to apply for a competitive supplement to fund and carry-out the evaluation
that was planned during Year 1. GCSO has chosen Dr. Matthew Webster as the outside evaluator.
He and project staff will regularly meet with GCSO staff to learn about the READY4Life Initiative,
plan evaluation activities, develop outcome measures, and write a formal evaluation plan to be
submitted to ACF for a competitive supplement.
