Genetic Variation in Opioid Induced Respiratory Depression in Mice

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Drs. O’Hara and Donohue will continue to expand their previous work with Dr. Bubier on the assessment of breathing and other related variables following opioid administration in different strains of mice. This will include improvements to algorithms and the associated software for determining respiration rates both during sleep and wake, respiratory depression, changes in activity, and changes associated with illness and death. This work will also include optimizing hardware options, including housing, to improve the initial signals. As in previous work, this collaboration will be done largely through electronic communication methods, but also through personal visits to JAX to assess and optimize testing conditions and data analysis.
