Description
OBJECTIVES: This project will evaluate the cUlTent state of practice for use of geotextiles and
geogrids in hi ghway applications. The objectives of the project are as follows:
I. Conduct an in-depth rev iew of current specifications used by other Departments of TranspOltation
nationwide.
2. Develop updated specifications for using geotextile and geogrids to ass ist design engineers,
specification writers, constructi on in spectors and mai ntenance personnel
3. Develop updated desi gn and construction guidelines for use of geotextile and geogrids on
highway projects.
4. Monitor the installation and performance of various geosynthetics and geogrids during and after
construction to verify any changes in usage specifications.
