Description
This pilot project will demonstrate the need for regular physical activity in Kentucky schools and how important it is the child and the school environment. Research suggests. It is recommended that children accumulate 60+ minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day. Research suggests that Kentucky chidlren are not reaching this recommendation. The Healtheir KY Schools Challenge will assess many variables to evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot implementation. Three schools were selected to participate based on their interest in the project: Booker T Washington Elementary, Lansdowne Elementary, and Beaumont Middle.
Aims will be to collect data: pre, mid and post data; train teachers and appropriate staff how to implement the physical activity program; and, to be resource for the participating schools.
