Grape Commodity Survey

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This survey will allow us to target 7 pests of concern to the grape industry. The establishment of any of these insects would have large negative impacts on the state’s growing grape and wine-making industry. We will collect survey data detailing the presence/absence of these pests in vineyards. As with most other exotics, early detection leads to easier and less costly eradication. The Cooperator seeks to conduct a program which is expected to result in: • The safeguarding of Kentucky’s grape industry from this suite of pests. • Preventing these insects from becoming established in Kentucky. • Early detection and a rapid response if any of these pests are detected through this survey. • The entry of positive/negative data into the NAPIS database
