Description

Pursuant to KRS 200.550, the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs (CCSHCN) is required to establish a Hemophilia Treatment Program within the CCSHCN for detection, diagnosis and treatment of persons suffering from hemophilia. CCSHCN, due to the complexity involved in maintain such services both financially and resource based, has historically collaborated with the University of Kentucky, Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in order to provide coordinated health care services to hemophilia patients in Central and Eastern Kentucky. CCSHCN has been provide with the foundation necessary to meet the required statute while also avoiding the cost associated with establishing its own Hemophilia Treatment Program by supporting the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology associated with the University of Kentucky Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC).
