Description

The purpose of this proposal is to document the need and system requirements for a proposed adaptive traffic control system on US 27 in Lexington, KY. The project corridor includes US 27, Nicholasville Road/S. Limestone Street, from the intersection of Waller Drive (MP 4.674) to Upper Street (MP 5.769). This section of roadway abuts the University of Kentucky and UKL Medical Center. Average Daily Traffic on this section of US 27 ranges from 25,000 vpd near downtown Lexington to 38,000 south of the. University of Kentucky campus. The section includes eight (8) signalized intersections, including one signalized pedestrian crossing. These intersections are summarized below and shown in the figure below.
