Increasing Recycling Capacity at the University of Kentucky

Application for 2021-2022 Kentucky Pride Fund Recycling Grant Abstract: Increasing Recycling Capacity at the University of Kentucky A goal for the University of Kentucky's recycling program is to increase the University's material diversion rate to 50% by 2022. In 2020, the University reported a 34% material diversion rate. This proposed project seeks to purchase a recycling compactor for the Wethington building within the Medical Center Plaza and a vertical baler for the UK Recycling Warehouse. By increasing recycling capacity on campus through a compactor and baler, UK Recycling hopes to be one step to not only a 50% diversion rate, but a future zero waste goal.
