Inverse Problems in Geometry and Partial Differential Equations

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Supplementary funding is requested to provide partial support for the visit of Dr. Siu-Hung Tang to the University of Kentucky Department of Mathematics in academic year 2006-2007. Dr. Tang's visit will be supported jointly by funding from the NSF Grants of Peter Hislop and Peter Perry together with partial support from the Department of Mathematics. Dr. Tang will work with Perry and Hislop on scattering theory for complex manifolds with CR-boundary. The goal ofthis work is twofold: (1) to study CR-invariant differential operators and other geometric invariants which arise as residues of the scattering operator and(2) to study scattering resonances for the Laplacian. The broader impact of this work lies in its applicability to CR-geometry and the study of nonlinear partial differential equations, such as the CR-Yamabe problem, arising there.
