Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The Jonas Nurse Scholar Program was established in 2008 to support improvement in
healthcare through the advancement of professional nursing leadership, scholarship and
innovation. In particular, the Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar Program intends to address the shortage
of nurse faculty in the United States through scholarship support for doctoral education. Currently,
the Jonas Program provides support to nearly 600 doctoral Jonas Scholars. In this application, we
request funds for two Jonas Scholars in the 2016]18 cohort, one each from the PhD and DNP
programs at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. The application includes a description of
the process used to identify potential scholars and the criteria for selection from each program, as
well as an explanation of how student and faculty mentors are matched in each program.
Additionally, the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance provided a description of the
financial match to be provided by the College
