Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DBHDID) is 1 of 13 sites awarded a State Adolescent Treatment Enhancement and Dissemination (SAT-ED) cooperative agreement by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015. Kentucky’s project called KAT-ED focuses on enhancing services for youth ages 12-18 that are eligible for court diversion or who may have substance use issues or co-occurring mental health and substance use issues. The project serves Campbell County and Whitley County in Kentucky. Campbell County is just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio and Whitley County is in rural, southeastern Kentucky. Both counties are homogenous with over 95% of residents being white, yet, both counties face economic challenges resulting in low per capita incomes. The University of Kentucky Evaluation Center provides formative and summative evaluation services to provide feedback and measure progress toward goals in the areas of: Financial mapping, interagency collaboration, workforce development, client services and outcomes. The Evaluation Center repots on the following areas: 1) Financial Mapping; 2) Interagency Collaboration; 3) Workforce Development; 4) Service Enhancements and services provided . 5) adolescent client services provided. The evaluation team sends monthly reports to sites for follow-up data, coordinates baseline surveys and sends follow-up surveys to providers who attend trainings. In spring of 2015, the reporting system (SAIS) was discontinued and converted to the Common Data Platform (CDP) and the transfer has created challenges in reporting. The Evaluation Center is working with the project team to determine how best to report summative data. The two sites (Cumberland River and Northkey) will enter their final new client data at the end of June and will complete all follow up data by December 31, 2015. The final report will be due by January 13, 2016 and will complete the project.
