Description

This camp will target the specific skills family communication and listening, sharing emotions with peers, positive problem solving, and empathic communication. Every hour of camp programming intentionally builds these skills. This camp will target the specific skills of building confidence in their abilities through family challenges and opportunities to develop new skills and designated time to reflect on skills learned, challenges overcome, and what participants did well to develop confidence in oneself that will be helpful in dealing with the stresses of the deployment cycle. This camp will target the specific skills of decision making, coping, control, contribution, character, engagement and dimensions of deployment resilience (VanBreda, 2001) including emotional continuity, positive perspectives on separations and development of separation resilience in children.
