Description
The purpose of the Kentucky DeafBlind Project is to collaborate with with providers,
teachers, service, providers and families to address the needs of DeafBlind children to
ensure that these children have meaningful access to the general curriculum and can
successfully transition to postsecondary education or employment. Expected outcomes
include:
-Improve outcomes to service providers
-Increase early identification and referrals
-Improved access to the general curriculum
-Improved transition to postsecondary education or employment
-Increased support to families of DeafBlind children
-Information from a state-by-state needs assessment
-Increased number of qualified intervenors
a) Products and services will be
developed with input from stakeholders including the state education agency, Part C le
ad agency, and local education agencies.
b) The Kentucky DeafBlind Project
will follow the principles of implementation science to ensure that services will lead to ex
pected outcomes. Project staff will used practice-
based coaching to support family members, EIS providers, special and regular educatio
n teachers, and related services personnel to implement interventions with children who
are deaf-blind with fidelity.
c)The project’s evaluation plan will include quantitative and qualitative methods to
determine satisfaction with services, increases in knowledge and skills, and
implementation fidelity.
