Kentucky Geological Survey FY2021 Geologic Data Preservation Project,

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

We are proposing four objectives to address our thin section collection, water well lithology data, and a sub-set of our mineral exploration rock core. All of the projects aim to increase digital access, ensure long-term preservation of KGS collections, and provide better data to KGS patrons. Project results will advance goals in industry, research, education, and resource management within Kentucky through improved characterizations of Kentucky's geologic features. Specific tasks include cataloging, scanning, photographing, rehousing, and metadata recording and creation. Final products will be available for use by the public through KGS web services including tabular searches, sample reports, and interactive maps.
