Abstract
Collaborative efforts between the Office of Health and Data Analytics, Kentucky Health
Information Exchange (KHIE) and the University of Kentucky Research Foundation (UKRF),
Kentucky Regional Extension Center (REC) provides expanded opportunities to effectively serve Kentucky’s
healthcare organizations through educational and incentive opportunities.
In collaboration with the Department for Medicaid Services and Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Services, the Office of Health and Data Analytics, KHIE and the Kentucky REC are offering incentive
programs aimed at offsetting vendor fees associated with connecting to KHIE for Kentucky healthcare
organizations. This collaboration creates an opportunity to utilize a mechanism to disperse Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Engineering
Infectious Diseases grant incentive funds to healthcare facilities to increase the number of public health
reporting connections, improving the Department of Public Health’s (DPH) ability to track and influence public
health outcomes.
The 2020 eHealth Summit collaboration gives ample opportunity for KHIE and the Kentucky
REC to educate healthcare organizations on pertinent services offered in an informative and interactive
environment.
