Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The Kentucky Math Carnival is a one-day event for middle school
students from Lexington, Kentucky and its six surrounding counties.
Engaging hands-on activities supervised by University of Kentucky
graduate students and faculty will introduce participants to new areas
of mathematics outside the standard curriculum, as well as educational
and career opportunities. A non-competitive and collaborative
environment will be in place to encourage all participants, especially
underrepresented groups. The overall goal is to boost the enthusiasm
for mathematics at a stage where middle schoolers often disengage, and
to providing experience for graduate student future outreach.
