Scope of work: • Item 1: Develop and implement environmental education programming for inservice and pre-service education majors at the University of Kentucky through various delivery methods including field trips and retreats. The major portion of this item is a 3-day retreat to Robinson Forest for all secondary pre-service education majors. Activities from this retreat form a cornerstone of many of the courses the students take the rest of the year. An additional trip to learn how to integrate environmental education field trips into the curriculum may also be taken, but this is dependent upon the level of funding required to accomplish the Robinson Forest trip. • • • • • • • Item 2: Work with the college of education to identify and develop classes that will qualify to be counted towards the endorsement in environmental education for in-service teachers. This includes PLS 597, which is being offered for the second time this spring semester. Item 3: Hire a consultant to initiate a Partnership for a Green City: Lexington Style project modeled after the conducted in Louisville in 2004. The consultant will work to help accomplish goals 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14 of the Environmental Education Master Plan. Item 4: Meet with Center's Advisory board at least twice in the next year. Item 5: Host two networking meetings for all agencies and organizations involved in environmental education in the university's service region to discuss programs and collaboration. Item 6: Provide professional development opportunities for educators in the service region so they become more knowledgeable about the field of environmental education. Item 7: Host two meetings for university departments and faculty with the goal of developing a systemic approach to environmental education at the university. Item 8: Provide professional development opportunities for faculty or staff at the university so they become more knowledgeable about the field of environmental education.
