The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH), police, coroners, medical examiners, and the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC) at the University of Kentucky (UK) have collaborated in submitting this proposal to maintain and, in some areas, expand the KVDRS. Since initial funding 9/1/2005, data on between 886]934 cases each year have been entered into the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). For the next year, data on an estimated 850]950 statewide violent death cases will continue to be entered into the NVDRS as defined by this funding announcement, from all required data sources. The KVDRS builds upon ongoing experience with the NVDRS.
