Description
The purpose of the program is the development of the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). Initial funding to begin the implementation of NVDRS was mandated in FY 2002 appropriations language. The NVDRS assists state governments to create a comprehensive surveillance system that includes data from multiple agencies. These data are necessary to monitor the incidence of specific types of violent deaths in the state. This program addresses the "Healthy People 2010" focus area(s) of Injury and Violence Prevention.
