Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) proposes to use experimental CatStrong Carbon Fabric Wraps to retrofit 2 deteriorated timber piles in 064B00019N and 2 deteriorated timber piles in 064B00049N. The Carbon Fabric Wraps were developed at the University of Kentucky and are expected to be a much more cost effective method of retrofitting damaged and deteriorated timber piles when compared to traditional methods. The objective of this project is to carry out the retrofit design; CFRP and adhesive material specification, procurement, and application supervision; monitoring at all retrofit stages; and reporting to the results to the sponsor. The performance of the retrofit will be monitored and evaluated over a period of three years.
