Abstract KHIT 162, Bridge Column and Pier Cap Retrofit with CatStrong UCF and TCF (058B00050R – US-23 over Toms Creek Bridge in Johnson Co., D12) April 15, 2025 to June 30, 2027 The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) proposes to use CatStrong Carbon Fabrics to retrofit spalling and corrosion damaged Reinforced Concrete (RC) columns and pier caps in 058B00050R. The objective of this project is to carry out the retrofit design; CFRP and adhesive material specification, procurement, and application supervision; monitoring at all retrofit stages; and reporting. KTC will specify and procure the CatStrong carbon fiber material and epoxy adhesives, ultra violet protective coating; and miscellaneous retrofit supplies (protective gear, application equipment, etc.). KTC will perform monitoring of all stages of the retrofit construction and submit the reports for the project.
