KSGC Fellowship: Integrated Structural-Electrical Composite Spacecraft Graduate Fellowship

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Kentucky Space Grant Consortium Graduate Fellowship for Meetra Torabi on circuit board development for small spacecraft. The project involves selection of board materials and assembly processes for solar cell arrays on CubeS at scale satellites such as KySat- I. Standard printed circuit boards are not well matched to the thermal expansion coefficient of semiconductor solar cells. Carbon core laminate circuit boards will be evaluated as stronger, higher thermal conductivity and better thermal expansion matched substrates. Also under investigation are the solder alloy and flux compositions suitable for assembling electronics for space applications able to withstand the launch stresses and extreme environment on orbit.
