Description
Objectives: A two day meeting for scientists working on topics related to aerothermodynamic ablation,
a process that protects spacecraft or missiles from intense aerodynamic heating through surface
vaporization and chemical transformation. The workshop is steered by Sandia National Lab, NASA,
and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research with approximately 120 participants.
Participants: Domestic participants come from Department of Defense (Air Force, Army), the Departement
of Energy (Sandia National Laboratories), NASA, academic institutions and private companies.
International participants also attended from academic institutions, industry and agencies such
as the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company
(EADS).
