KY EPSCoR: Development of a Kinetic Modeling Scheme to Capture Phenol-formaldehyde Resin Degradation

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Current modeling methods for deriving pyrolysis gas properties are outdated and do not match experimental data. In eorts to better match thermogravimetric analysis experiments, an alternative model is proposed. This model consists of using open-source experimental data on phenolic derivatives to back out gasication specie production rates as a function of ambient condition parameters. By knowing the pyrolysis gas composition, a better prediction of the enthalpy of the gas can be found; thereby, eliminating the dependency of legacy data.
