Description
Forests cover about half of Kentucky and, in addition to being ecologically important, are a major economic force in the state. A 2015 study estimated the economic impact of Kentucky’s state park system at $889 million. In addition to the tourism aspect of Kentucky’s forests, Kentucky’s forest and wood industry is extremely important to the state. Kentucky’s forest sector is estimated to have contributed over $18 billion to the state’s economy in 2022-2023.
