Description
The University of Kentucky Center on Trauma and Children (CTAC) will partner with Kentucky AWARE
in the creation of two trauma-informed care learning collaboratives: (1) regional behavioral consultants
and other specialists from educational cooperatives across the state; (2) educators from the three
participating LEAs; and (3) school-based mental health professionals. The University of Kentucky
CTAC located in the College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, is dedicated to the enhancement of
the health and well-being of children and their families through research, service and dissemination of
information about child abuse and trauma. The CTAC has extensive experience working with
professionals from across Kentucky and is knowledgeable of effective strategies for addressing the
behavioral health needs of culturally-diverse children, youth, and young adults affected by trauma. In
addition to implementation of the learning collaboratives, the Center will also employ the YMHFA
Coordinator and a Project Assistant. Dr. Sprang as well as the Youth Mental Health First Aid Coordinator
and Project Assistant will serve on the Kentucky AWARE State Management Team.
